Yoga has several benefits, including being invigorating, strengthening, and, of course, calming. Certain poses, like supine (also known as “reclined”) goddess pose, can be extremely restorative depending on the style of yoga you’re doing. You should definitely give it a shot if you have tight hips.
What benefits are there?
A fantastic way to release some of the tension that many of us hold around our hips is to adopt the supine goddess pose. One of my favorite poses to practice before bed is this restorative one, which helps the entire body wind down, relax, and get ready for sleep.
You will feel like a completely different person after only a short while in the reclined goddess.
It can be psychologically and energetically purifying in addition to being physically therapeutic. When it comes to opening your sacral chakra, which governs creativity, drive, and sexual energy, the supine goddess is a great resource. Furthermore, you’d be surprised at how much this stance can calm a racing mind in terms of things like tension.
Recommendations & adjustments
If you find that your knees aren’t opening comfortably, consider placing bolsters, blocks, or blankets underneath them for support.
Try lying down with a yoga block positioned lengthwise across the middle of your back, towards your shoulder blades, for additional heart-opening effects. If this puts too much strain on the neck, a block might be positioned beneath the head.
Try raising your arms toward the ceiling and then bringing them back over your head so that your hands are palms up on the floor to deepen the pose. Lift your chest and turn your armpits toward the ceiling by squeezing your shoulder blades back and down.
If it feels right, place one hand on your tummy and one on your heart to tune into your body and breath.
If you have any groin or knee issues, be especially careful when adopting this posture.
To Wrap Things Up
Supine goddess is a yoga pose you don’t want to miss; whether your hips are giving you sorrow or you just want to unwind into a calming pose to clear your mind. There are a ton of amazing benefits to this posture, regardless of how long you maintain it for.
